King Gillette Ranch – The Other Side of the Road
I love the long driveway coming up to the Visitor Center at King Gillette Ranch: lined with huge eucalyptus trees on both sides, which form a dark canopy over the top of any painting that I do there, and with the expansive field areas then hills in the distance. Last time I painted from the driveway, I painted “Eucalyptus Eucalyptus Oak”, my play on words on “duck duck goose”, and I did it on the right side of the road.
Once I’d finished that painting, I realized that I liked the mountain view on the left side better! So when I went back this time, at one of our Allied Artists’ Paint Outs, I painted that direction….
